Yitzhak was told by is teacher Mira, that "Outside, Jews were being dragged from their homes and seized on the streets. a bullet whizzed through a window."
ReplyDeleteThis shows that the shows are indeed the victim in this situation in the city of Vilna, Lithuania. There isn't any rescuers at this time cause evryone would try to save therself. Also there was many bystanders just watching from there window, waiting for something to happen.
I am reading the diary of Anne Frank "We will be free after the war" Anne Frank are the victims and the Van Dann's, because they are all in hiding or (annex) until after the war because they do not want to get caught or taken by the S.S soldiers.
ReplyDeleteA character that I found that being a resuer and a victim is Uncle Oscar. He had hid Ruth's family , but he is also a jewish man in hiding away from the nazi. A quote in the book that I found is '' Uncle Oscar explained that he could not turn on the light, for fear of attracting attention to the house.'' Uncle Oscar had taken the a chance and hid Ruth's family in the middle of the night but them , themselves are in hiding away from everyone. This quote shows both these postions because he was helping and hiding
ReplyDeleteAnne frank would be a victim because she hiding from the ss soilders so she wont get take to and consintration camp to die "the plan had to be speeded up ten days because of the call-up" and the ss soilders are the perpetrators because they want to hurt anne and her family
ReplyDeleteA victim would be aunt Anna who died with out the will ot live in the book it states,"After that she seemed to lose the will to live. She got thinner and thinner and one morning she to did not wake up." she became a victim of the holocaust dieing with out hope.
ReplyDeleteA rescuer would be Daniel father even though he did not physicly rescued any one he saved his family from starving. The story states, "No one is allowed to finish the loaf of on the frist day." he knew how to conserve food which saved them from starving.
In the book “Hidden Child of the Holocaust” by Stacy Cretzmeyer there are many types of people. One type of person in this book is the victim. Ruth, a young girl, is one of these victims. She is a young Jewish girl who constantly has to keep moving to hide from the Nazis. In the text on page 47 it states, “Why do they hate us so? Why are they after us?” These two questioning lines from Ruth’s thoughts show how she’s the victim. It shows how she feels and why she is wondering why her? Why me? Why just because I am Jewish? This shows how she feels as the victim.
ReplyDeleteThere is also another type of character in this book. They are the rescuer. This characters name is Monsieur Lambert. He helps Ruth and her family escape the building they live in before the police comes to take away the hidden Jews. At first they do not believe him, but later they soon realize he wasn’t lying. In the text it states on page 45, “You have to get out! Fast! I heard it at work today. They know all about the building. There’s going to be a roundup, probably within the hour!” This here sentence shows how he helped warn her and her family.
In the book I’m reading, Hidden Child of the Holocaust by Stacy Cretzmeyer there’s many different types of people. The main character Ruth is a victim. She’s a young Jewish girl who continuously gets forced out of her house because she is Jewish. In the text, it states, “Maybe it’s the flashlight of a member of the French police, come to take away more Jews. Why do they hate us so? Why are they after us? I wish Jeannette were here, so that I could ask her.” This quote shows my answer to be true because Ruth is an innocent young girl who is dreadful and wants answers to many questions she has.
ReplyDeleteAnother character that portrays one of the different characters is Monsieur Lambert is a rescuer in this book. He alarms Ruth’s family to make sure that they get out of their house and to the train so they don’t get caught by the Nazis. In the book, it says, “You have to get out fast! I heard it at work today. They know all about the building. There’s going to be a roundup, probably within the hour.” This proves my answer to be true because he is a rescuer for alerting her family to get out of the house and get on the train to somewhere safe.
I would classify Ruth (also known as Renée) and her family as victims because they were about to be tracked down because there was going to be a roundup in about an hour. They were forced to leave the comfort of their own home to find the village of St. Juéry. As shown in the text, “You have to get out! Fast! I heard it at work today. They all know about the building. There’s going to be a roundup, probably within the hour! You cannot wait another minute.” From this text, you can infer that they would have been the victims, could have been attacked and could have been taken away, but luckily they went on a train and left before the roundup had taken place.
ReplyDeleteI can classify Uncle Oscar as a rescuer because even though it was very late at night, he took Ruth’s family in to help them and keep them safe for the time being, because that was what family was for. In the text, it states, “…the door opens a few inches, and there is a tall man standing there, holding an oil lamp only very dimly lit. He is hurrying us inside the dark house, and Maman embraces him tearfully. He is her brother, and he is still alive and safe.” Finally, to explain this quote, it took Oscar a while to come to the door, but in the end, he and Aunt Sophie came to their rescue and allowed them to come into the house to safety and warmth, and rest just as they needed.
In the book “Anne Frank” it shows a perpetrator. The perpetrator is Mrs. Van Daan. In the book it says “You ought to have been in our home, we were properly brought up. It’s absurd that Anne’s so frightfully spoiled. I wouldn’t put up with it if Anne were my daughter.” This shows that she iss a perpetrator because she is being so mean and cruel to Anne anout her actions.
ReplyDeleteIn the book “Anne Frank” it shows a victim. The victim is Anne. In the book it says “Mrs. Van Daan is unbearable. I get nothing but ‘blowups’ from her for my continuous chatter.” This shows that she is a victim because she is continuously getting bothered by Mrs. Van Daan.
One victim is Ruth and her family. Because in the book it says” They know all about the building. There’s going to be a round up” Ruth and her family are Jewish and they were hiding in a city in South France where the Nazis haven’t invaded yet until now.
ReplyDeleteA rescuer would be Monsieur Lambert. ” They know all about the building. There’s going to be a roundup”. He warned Ruth’s family about the roundup of the cops. After that he went to warned Ruths dads brother.
The book that I am reading is called A Train In Winter by Caroline Moorehead. So far in my book, i can infer that the bystanders of the story are the Parisians. the quote that best helps me describe this is on page 4 of the book, "...Standing in little groups along the Champs-Élysées to watch the German soldiers take over their city in the early hours of 14 June 1940..." This proves for them to be bystanders because when their homes were being taken over, they just stood there watching, and did nothing to claim it back/stop the thieves of Nazi soldiers
ReplyDeleteThere are many Victims in the book Hidden Child of the Holocaust but one in specific is Renee's uncle, uncle Heinrich. Uncle Heinrich has been taken by the french police the day after a raid in his apartment building. This was his wife's reaction when they came to take him away. "What do you want with him! He has done nothing!" This excliamed quote proves how unfair the police were to an innocent man like Heinrich.
ReplyDeleteAlso, an example of the perpenstrator in this book is a unnamed man who threatens to expose Renee's family to the police. These were his words exactly. "I know where the Jews are hidden in Arthes, and I know that you, yourself, are Jewish. Unless you persuade me otherwise... i'll report you to the police." This shows that they're are betraying people who want to turn the Jews in.
In the book, Night by Ellie Wiesel, Ellie was a bystander because he watched his dad get hit by a SS officer. Also Ellie's dad was a victim because he was hit in the face by a officer. In the text it states, "My father had been struck, in front of me, and I had not even blinked. I had watched and kept silent." This shows that Ellie was so used to abuse and he didnt even care that his dad was hit.
ReplyDeleteA victim in the book Anne Frank is Anne. A perpetrator is Mrs. Van Daan. “Suddenly her eye fell on me. You should have seen her. Unfortunately, at the very moment she turned around, I was shaking my head sorrowfully- not on purpose, but quite involuntarily, for I had been following the whole conversation so closely.” This shows that Mrs. Van Daan always starts fights and arguments. She gave Anne a rude look, which was only instigating another fight. Anne is the victim because she just looked down, and did not say anything to her except for privately in her diary.
ReplyDeleteThe book I am reading is Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. A victim in this book is Anne Frank; she was Jewish which means she had rights taken away from her. “ Jews are banned from trams and are forbidden to drive.”
ReplyDeleteThe perpetrators are the S.S. “The S.S. have sent a call up notice for Daddy.”
I’m reading Diary of Anne Frank, they are not just one person but it would be Anne’s Jewish friends. An example from the book would be, “Our many Jewish friends are being taken away by the dozen.” This is showing that these people are suffering from a destructive action. Also they are going through some hard emotions right now. People are taking them away and taking away their freedom. Another one would be Miep because she is a bystander and she doesn’t care what the Frank family does or the Van Daan. “ Miep helped him off with his coat.” Miep would just help them when they need and then she wouldn’t care after that.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Hidden Child of the Holocaust, Uncle Heinrich was a victim because he was arrested and taken by the French police. The text says, “They see Uncle Heinrich being taken to the truck. There are several other men being led out of other buildings in the first light of the morning. Uncle Heinrich looks up at the window one last time, but he cannot wave. His hands have been cuffed behind his back, as though he were a criminal.” This quote means that Uncle Heinrich was taken by the French police for no particular reason. In the text, it states that his arms were cuffed back as though he was a criminal. Which means that he wasn’t a criminal, and was still taken into custody of the police. This proves my answer because he was a man that was deceived, cheated, and sacrificed for no purpose.
ReplyDeleteWould you help someone who was in desperate need? Many non-Jews were sacrificing their lives to protect and provide for the Jews that were in hiding. Some Jews gathered together and lived in one home or hiding place when danger comes around. In the text it states, “When we turned down the next street, I recognized the front of Madame Valat’s house… Andree and I were led down a flight of steps into a cellar room. In the room, I saw many people: Maman and Papa, Monsieur and Madame Fedou, their daughter Lucette, and Madame Valat, who was slicing potato skins into a bowl. There were several men whom I had never seen before...there had been several raids on houses the night before, and many of the Jewish families who had recently come to the village had been taken away.” This quote means that since the raids and the round ups had increased and families had been taken away, Renee(Ruth)’s family and others came together to stay in hiding. This proves that Madame Valat was rescuing these families. She was giving them a place to live, while also putting her life in danger. She must have understood that the families did not want to be discovered by the police, nor did they want to be separated because they all knew what was going to happen after that. Death.
